Web traffic is the amount of data sent and received by visitors to a web site. It is a large portion of Internet traffic. This is determined by the number of visitors and the number of pages they visit. Sites monitor the incoming and outgoing traffic to see which parts or pages of their site are popular and if there are any apparent trends, such as one specific page being viewed mostly by people in a particular country. There are many ways to monitor this traffic and the gathered data is used to help structure sites, highlight security problems or indicate a potential lack of bandwidth — not all web traffic is welcome. Some companies offer advertising schemes that, in return for increased web traffic (visitors), pay for screen space on the site. Sites also often aim to increase their web traffic through inclusion on search engines and through Search engine optimization. From Wikipedia under the

From Google News Search: "Web traffic" How exactly does a hardware wireless router protects against threats if it's allowing web traffic to and fro? Q. I've heard that a hardware router acts as a firewall, but I'm not sure how if it seemingly is letting all web traffic in and out. Would appreciate an answer from someone with networking know-how. Thanks. Just to clarify, I meant protection from viral threats/trojan horses/malware, not from people hacking into the wireless signal. Asked by Kevin - Wed Jun 17 23:21:28 2009 - - 1 Answers - 0 Comments A. You have protection provided you have the firewall enabled AND you have implemented wireless security on the router. Enter a WPA key into the router, then establish a connection from your wireless client. Disable SSID broadcast then. There are several depths of security you can enable including MAC address filtering which would only allow connections with a listed MAC.
